Yazio, made by YAZIO GmbH in Erfurt, Germany, is one of Europe’s most popular calorie counters. Its pricing has two unusual points: there’s no public price list, and PRO is always paid for the whole period upfront. We make Calorix, a competing app, so every fact here comes from Yazio’s help centre or its App Store listings, checked on October 23, 2026.
What’s free in Yazio
Yazio’s App Store description promises “Yazio’s free calorie counter app”, with a “Calorie tracker with barcode scanner”, a database of millions of foods, a water tracker, an optional fasting tracker and “Instant access with no signup required.”
The big change of 2026 is photo logging. Yazio’s help centre says its AI calorie tracking “was initially available to all users for free and is now part of Yazio Pro” (Yazio help).
What Yazio PRO adds
According to Yazio, PRO unlocks AI food tracking from a photo, future meal planning, the Smart Food Rating, detailed nutrients (fatty acids, fiber, sugar, salt, vitamins and minerals), more than 3,000 recipes, unlimited grocery lists, activity sync with Fitbit, Samsung Health, Garmin and Polar, “all intermittent fasting plans, including 16:8, 12:12, 5:2, 1:1, and much more”, and a mood tracker with notes (Yazio help).
How much Yazio PRO costs
Yazio’s own site has no price page (yazio.com/en/pro returned “not found” on October 23, 2026), so the App Store is the best public record. These are the plan-labelled rows that day:
| Plan | US App Store | UK App Store | German App Store |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 months | $23.90 or $47.90 | £14.99, £35.90 or £47.90 | €23.90, €35.90 or €83.90 |
| 6 months | $34.99 | £24.99 | €14.99 |
| 3 months | $23.99 | £14.99 or £23.99 | €35.99 |
Each store also listed rows simply called “YAZIO PRO” without a length (in the US: $11.90, $29.99 and $32.99). On the French and Dutch stores, 12 months was €11.90, €23.90, €47.90 or €59.90; in Canada CA$26.99, CA$59.90 or CA$109.99.
So the same plan can cost very different amounts depending on the offer you’re shown, and a 3-month plan can cost as much as a year. Whatever you’re offered, the App Store shows the price and period before you confirm.
How you pay: “you will be charged the full amount at the beginning of your selected period … A monthly payment is not possible” (Yazio help). You can buy in the app (Apple or Google) or on Yazio’s website by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or SEPA direct debit (Yazio help).
The free trial: a 7-day free PRO trial “is offered occasionally and is available only on our website. Unfortunately, it is not possible to subscribe to it directly in the app” (Yazio help).
How to cancel Yazio PRO
Cancel on the platform you paid on (Yazio help):
- App Store: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Yazio → Cancel Subscription. Yazio can’t cancel an Apple subscription on your behalf.
- Google Play: Play Store → your profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Yazio.
- Website: sign in at yazio.com/app/account, choose your subscription, then Cancel subscription.
Cancelling stops the renewal; PRO stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Yazio notes that “You can’t pause or shorten an active subscription”, and that uninstalling the app or deleting your account doesn’t cancel it.
Refunds
Refunds depend on where you bought PRO (Yazio help):
- App Store or Google Play: Yazio can’t issue refunds; ask Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google.
- Yazio website: you have a legal 14-day right of withdrawal from the day of purchase. Use Yazio’s online withdrawal form, email [email protected] or write to YAZIO GmbH, Kartäuserstr. 13a, 99084 Erfurt, Germany.
Is Yazio PRO worth it?
Yazio is the better choice if you want a free calorie counter with a barcode scanner and fasting tracker in your language (it’s in 20 languages on the App Store), or you’ll pay once a year for PRO’s AI tracking, fasting plans and recipes: its cheapest 12-month offer in the US, $23.90, is one of the lowest yearly prices among the apps we track.
It’s less of a fit if you want to pay monthly, or you’d rather have photo logging without a subscription.
Alternatives
- Lifesum: a free version with a barcode scanner, Premium from £7.99 or €9.99 a month, or $99.99 a year in the US. See Lifesum price.
- Foodvisor: French-made, with photo logging in Premium; its price depends on the offer. See Foodvisor price.
- Calorix (our app, iPhone only): free barcode lookups with no daily limit, 3 free AI photo scans a day and the basic fasting plans free; Pro is $3.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US after a 3-day free trial, with monthly billing available. It has no Android app.
