BitePal is an AI calorie tracker with a raccoon pet, made by REFACE LITHUANIA UAB. It’s popular, but its prices are hard to find: the website doesn’t list any, and the App Store shows a long list of offers. We make Calorix, another calorie app with a pet, so we’re not neutral: every fact below comes from BitePal’s help centre or its App Store listings, checked on October 23, 2026.
Is BitePal free?
BitePal is free to download. Neither bitepal.app nor its App Store description says what, if anything, you can use without paying, and neither mentions a free trial. What the App Store does list is a set of paid subscriptions and extras.
How much BitePal costs
These are the plan-labelled purchases on BitePal’s US and UK App Store pages (US, UK):
| Purchase | US | UK |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Subscription | $3.99, $4.99, $5.99 | £3.99, £4.99 |
| Annual Subscription | $19.99, $35.99, $59.99 | £19.99, £34.99, £59.99 |
| “BitePal Yearly” | $23.99 | £22.99 |
| Pookies Pro Monthly | $9.99 | £9.99 |
| 400 Bitecoins Pack | $0.99 | £0.99 |
In Canada the weekly plan was listed at CA$4.99 or CA$6.99 and the yearly plans from CA$24.99 to CA$79.99; in Australia, A$5.99 or A$7.99 a week and A$29.99 to A$99.99 a year. The French store also listed a “Lifetime Subscription” at €89.99.
Several prices for the same plan mean BitePal shows different offers to different people. Over a year, any weekly plan costs more than a yearly one: $3.99 a week is about $207. Whatever you’re offered, the App Store shows the exact price and period before you confirm.
BitePal also sells subscriptions on Android and on its website, and its help centre mentions add-ons billed separately (“a Custom Meal Plan or Vitamin Guide”) and lifetime plans (BitePal help).
How to cancel BitePal
BitePal’s help centre gives these steps (BitePal help):
- iPhone or iPad (App Store): open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → find BitePal → Cancel Subscription, and confirm.
- Android (Google Play): Play Store → your profile icon → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions → BitePal → Cancel Subscription.
- Web: open BitePal → Settings → Manage Subscription → Cancel Subscription.
“Deleting the app doesn’t cancel your subscription, and you may still be charged.” If you can’t find BitePal in your App Store subscriptions, you may be signed in with a different Apple Account, have subscribed on the web, or have a lifetime plan. Apple notes that if there’s no Cancel button, the subscription is already cancelled (Apple Support).
Add-ons renew separately, so check that you’ve cancelled each one, and on each platform if you subscribed in more than one place.
Refunds
BitePal’s help centre sets these windows:
- App Store (iOS): “Request within 48 hours via Apple’s refund page”
- Google Play: within 48 hours via Google’s refund page
- Web: “Refund requests are available within 30 days of the first payment only”
- Renewals: within 48 hours of the renewal charge
For App Store purchases, the request goes to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides; its own refund page doesn’t set a 48-hour limit (Apple Support). If you’re not sure you qualify, BitePal asks you to send your invoice to its support.
Languages and platforms
BitePal’s App Store pages list English as its only language, including in Japan, where the store name is translated (October 23, 2026). It runs on iPhone, on Mac and Apple Vision as an iPhone app, on Android and on the web. When you look it up, the official app is “BitePal: Food Calorie Tracker” (id6479529917) from REFACE LITHUANIA UAB; the name varies a little by country.
When BitePal is the better choice
BitePal suits you if you want its raccoon and its outfits, its “simple weekly meal plans tailored to your goals” (App Store description), or an app you can also use on Android, a Mac or the web.
A calorie app with a pet, in more languages
If you like the idea of a pet but want an app in your language, or a clearer free version, here’s ours, with its limits:
- Calorix (our app, iPhone only): Toasty, an animated little flame, reacts to every meal and glass of water you log. It logs from a photo, barcode, nutrition label or your voice, and shows each ingredient with its grams so you can correct it. The free version includes barcode, search and manual logging, water, the basic fasting plans and 3 AI scans a day; Pro costs $3.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US, after a 3-day free trial. It’s in 16 languages, but there’s no Android or web app.
The full side-by-side is in Calorix vs BitePal, and what other calorie apps cost is in calorie app prices in 2026.
