Lose It! is one of the longest-running calorie counters, made by FitNow. Its pricing has more moving parts than most: a free plan, a yearly Premium plan with frequent discounts, a one-time Lifetime option, a new paid add-on, and two billing systems in the US. We make Calorix, a competing app, so every fact here comes from Lose It!’s help centre or its App Store listing, checked on October 23, 2026.
What’s free in Lose It! Basic
Lose It!’s pricing page in its help centre lists Basic at “$0 USD”, with “essential tracking tools, including a personalized daily calorie budget and access to our 50M+ food database” (Lose It! help). You can search and log foods and exercise, track your weight and use the community.
Two things to know before relying on the free plan:
- The barcode scanner is going Premium. “We are also in the process of moving the barcode scanner (Scan It) and nutrition label scanner to part of our Premium features. Some free members will still have access as we transition, while others will not” (Lose It! help). The same article says the scanner only works when your device language is English, and the US App Store listing already lists it under Premium features.
- Basic shows ads. You can remove them without Premium through a one-time purchase (Profile → Manage → Eliminate Ads); upgrade prompts and some affiliate offers remain (Lose It! help).
What Premium adds
Premium includes “everything in basic Lose It!, plus custom goals like water, sleep, and nutrient targets, automatic syncing with smartwatches and fitness trackers, future meal logging, barcode scanning, smart photo and voice logging features, and more” (Lose It! help). Intermittent fasting “requires an active Lose It! Premium membership” (Lose It! help).
How much Lose It! Premium costs
The standard price is $79.99 a year, renewing yearly, per the help centre (updated September 9, 2026). In practice many people pay less: “Lose It! adjusts prices based on various factors like seasonal promotions and how often you use the app … Most users will receive discounted offers while using the app” (Lose It! help).
That’s why the US App Store lists Premium rows at $79.99, $39.99, $29.99, $23.99, $19.99, $11.99 and $9.99 on the same page, without saying how long each lasts (App Store). Older guides that quote $39.99 a year are describing one of these offers, not the standard price.
Outside the US, the App Store shows local rows without plan lengths, from £9.99 to £75.99 in the UK, CA$13.49 to CA$107.99 in Canada and A$7.99 to A$124.99 in Australia (October 23, 2026).
The free trial: “New users who haven’t tried Lose It! Premium before can get a 7-day free trial.”
Across devices: if you buy Premium through the App Store, you get it on iPhone and iPad and on loseit.com, not on Android. Buying on loseit.com unlocks it everywhere.
Lose It! Lifetime
Lifetime is a one-time purchase that unlocks Premium for good: $299.99 for free accounts, or $229.99 for active Premium members. Lose It! warns that Lifetime isn’t refundable, that it doesn’t refund time left on a yearly plan, and that buying it doesn’t cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription, so you need to turn auto-renewal off yourself. The App Store also lists Lifetime sale rows at $49.99 and $59.99.
The Lose It! Lab: a new add-on
On October 22, 2026, Lose It! published the price of The Lab, “an optional add-on that you pay for each month”: $19.99 a month, with “an introductory price of $9.99 a month for your first 3 months”. It isn’t included in Premium, Lifetime or the free plan, and it’s rolling out in phases, Lifetime members first, with more members in 2027 (Lose It! help). Lose It! says all standard features keep working without it.
How to cancel Lose It! Premium
“You must process the cancellation through the specific platform (Apple, Google, or loseit.com/Stripe) where you originally purchased it” (Lose It! help). To see which one you used, open the app: Profile → Lose It! Account → Purchases shows the purchase source, next billing date and price.
- Billed by Stripe (loseit.com, email offers, and newer US in-app subscriptions): tap Cancel Subscription on that same screen.
- Billed by Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Lose It! → Cancel Subscription.
- Billed by Google Play: Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Lose It!.
Deleting the app or your account doesn’t stop billing. Premium auto-renews unless auto-renewal is off at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Refunds
Lose It!’s support can refund purchases billed by Stripe or Google Play “within 5 weeks of the purchase date”. Purchases billed by Apple go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com (Lose It! help, Apple Support). Check your receipt: if it names Stripe or Lose It!, Lose It! can refund it; if it shows an Apple order ID, only Apple can.
Is Lose It! Premium worth it?
Lose It! is the better choice if you want a big, familiar food database, a simple calorie budget, apps on iPhone, Android and the web, and you’ll use Premium’s logging tools daily; $79.99 a year is in the middle of what calorie apps charge, and the in-app discounts often bring it lower. Its data stays yours: you can download a full export from loseit.com (Lose It! help).
It’s less of a fit if the free barcode scanner was the reason you chose it, or if you track many micronutrients. For a head-to-head with Calorix, see Calorix vs Lose It!.
Alternatives with a free barcode scanner
- Cronometer: its free Basic plan includes unlimited barcode scanning; Gold is $10.99 a month or $59.99 a year. See Cronometer price.
- MyNetDiary: a free, ad-free plan with a barcode scanner; Premium is $8.99 a month or $59.99 a year. See MyNetDiary price.
- Calorix (our app, iPhone only): barcode lookups are free with no daily limit, plus 3 free AI photo scans a day; Pro is $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US after a 3-day free trial. It has no Android or web app.
MyFitnessPal, Lose It!’s closest rival, also keeps its scanner behind Premium: see MyFitnessPal Premium price and the side-by-side Lose It! vs MyFitnessPal. For 15 apps in one table, see calorie app prices.
