The easiest calorie counter to keep up with is the one you don’t have to open. If your iPhone shows “calories left today” and “water so far” every time you pick it up, logging stops being a chore you remember and becomes something you just see. That’s what Calorix’s widgets are for.
Every Calorix widget
| Widget | Sizes | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Calories left | Small, medium, large; Lock Screen | Calories left with Toasty; macros in medium; water, your fast and a scan button in large |
| Streak | Small, medium; Lock Screen | Your streak and best streak, the last 7 days, and a countdown in the last hours before midnight |
| Water | Small; Lock Screen | Today’s water, with a button that adds a glass |
| Fasting | Small; Lock Screen | Your fast’s timer, with start and end buttons |
| Macros | Small, medium; Lock Screen | Protein, carbs and fat for the day |
| Buddy | Small, medium | Toasty’s tip of the moment, quick links to scan or describe a meal, and a water button |
The water button and the fasting start button work right on the Home Screen or Lock Screen, without opening the app. The end button finishes your fast in place once you’ve reached your goal; before that, it opens the fasting screen, so a fast is never ended by accident.
How to add a Calorix widget
- Home Screen: touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, choose Calorix, pick a widget and a size, and tap Add Widget.
- Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose the Lock Screen, tap the widget area, and pick a Calorix widget.
Widgets and Live Activities: what’s the difference?
A widget is a summary of your day that’s always there. A Live Activity follows something happening right now. In Calorix, Live Activities show your fasting timer, a countdown to midnight on an evening your streak is at risk, and a notice when a meal photo has finished analyzing, on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Apple limits a Live Activity to eight hours (Apple Developer), so for a 16-hour fast, a fresh one appears the next time you open Calorix.
Control Center and Siri
On iOS 18 and later, two Control Center buttons are available: one opens the meal scanner, the other adds a glass of water. With Siri and the Shortcuts app, you can log water, start or end a fast, or ask how many calories you have left today, without opening the app.
Requirements and price
- An iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Calorix 2.0 is made for iPhone; an Apple Watch app is planned.
- The widgets work in the free version. Calorix is free to download, and Pro costs $39.99 a year on the US App Store after a 3-day free trial (pricing).
Apple Health, Siri shortcuts and everything else Calorix does on iPhone are on Calorix for iPhone.
