You open a new calorie app to try it, and the first thing it asks for is an email address, then a password, then a confirmation link. Many people give up right there. Calorix doesn’t ask: open it, set your goal, and log your first meal. A calorie counter with no account, no sign-up and no login, unless you decide you want one.
What works without an account?
Everything. Without signing in, you can log by photo, barcode, nutrition label, voice or a few typed words, search foods, track water and weight, run the fasting timer, keep your streak with Toasty, and use the widgets and Live Activities, exactly as you would signed in.
Here’s how: the first time you open Calorix, it creates an anonymous account for you, an identifier with no name and no email address. Your log is saved to it in the background, so there’s nothing for you to fill in (terms, privacy policy).
When you’d sign in: two reasons
- To back up your log. Sign in with Apple or Google, and your log is backed up to your account.
- To move to a new iPhone. Sign in with the same account on the new phone, and your history comes back.
When you sign in, everything you logged on the anonymous account moves to the signed-in account, so you don’t lose a day. With Sign in with Apple, you can choose to hide your email address behind Apple’s private relay address. Your subscription isn’t tied to a Calorix account at all: it belongs to your Apple Account, and “Restore purchases” in the app’s settings brings it back on a new phone.
Your data
- Health data is never sold. It’s used only to run Calorix features, and never sold or used for advertising.
- Apple Health only with your permission. Calorix reads steps, active energy, workouts and weight, and saves calories, protein, carbs, fat, water and weight. You can turn saving off in the app’s settings.
- Deleting is in the app. Use Delete my data, or Delete account once you’ve signed in, in the app’s settings. Deleting the app alone doesn’t remove the data stored on our servers.
The privacy policy has the details.
What’s free, and what it costs
Using Calorix without an account and using it for free are two different things. Without paying, you get barcode, search and manual logging, water and weight, the basic fasting plans (12:12, 14:10 and 16:8) and 3 AI scans a day (photo, typed or spoken descriptions and nutrition labels). Pro costs $3.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year on the US App Store after a 3-day free trial (pricing).
Calorix isn’t the only app you can start without signing up: MyNetDiary’s App Store listing says “no account required”, and Yazio’s promises “instant access with no signup required” (both checked October 23, 2026). What these and other apps include for free is in our table of free calorie counter apps.
Log your first meal
Take a photo of your plate: Calorix lists each ingredient with its grams and calories, you fix anything that looks off, and you save it. For packaged food, scan the barcode; at a restaurant, just say what you’re having. More on the AI calorie scanner and on Calorix for iPhone.
